Are You Making These Tooth Brushing Mistakes? 

Did you know you need to brush your teeth for at least two minutes to remove a decent amount of plaque, and you really should be brushing your teeth twice a day to remove any trapped bacteria? Other tips you may not know about brushing your teeth:

  • Avoid brushing your teeth right after you eat. When you eat, your mouth becomes slightly acidic to help start the digestive process. Brushing right after eating you may increase the wear on your enamel
  • Use the proper brush strokes that we have been taught since childhood. Keep moving your brush in small circles over each tooth
  • Don’t forget to floss to reduce plaque build between teeth and gums
  • Don’t overlook brushing your tongue. It may feel weird at first, but lightly brushing the tongue can help remove bacteria
  • Back off on the toothpaste. You only need a pea-size amount of toothpaste to get the job done
  • Store your toothpaste bristles up to allow it to air dry, and don’t let your toothbrush touch anyone else ‘s to avoid any cross-contamination
  • Change your toothbrush every 3- 4 month. Toothbrush bristles fray and becomes less effective at cleaning the teeth
